Vaughn Ventus SLR3 Pro Carbon Senior Goalie Pants

Vaughn starts off 2022 with the entrance of their brand new SLR3 Pro Carbon goalie pants. The gear was designed with high-level butterfly goalies in mind, with a double-layered pro style on the hip padding, taller waist, and wider profile. The pants also feature an internal padded support belt, Aero-spacer mesh lining, Pure Carbon material, and extra tailbone padding.

External Material

The outer material is made of tough polyester, known for its reliability and cut resistance. The Pro Carbon line implements Vaughn’s Pure Carbon material, and in the pants, you can find that in the tailbone area. The tailbone has also been heightened to cover more of the lower back. Vaughn added large five-hole blocks with high density foam for good protection and better coverage. The pants are lined with Aero-spacer mesh material, which add good ventilation and flexibility.

Fit

Sticking with a similar theme to the SLR2, the SLR3 goalie pants have a loose-fit style. Certain parts of the pants have been lengthened and/or widened to add protection, more net coverage, and greater adaptability. The 5”-wide crotch area increases flexibility further, and the tailbone padding has been lengthened for greater lower back protection.

Waist Closure & Internal Belt

The inner belt features an internal padded support belt for easier application and a more tailored fit. The purpose of the belt is to help the pants sit up on your hips without you needing to wear them too tightly. The outside additionally features a lace-up front waist for a personalized fit and feel. The lace-up front waist allows for a wider profile to accommodate the new SLR3 arm and chest protector.

Hip Protection

At the hip level, Vaughn outfitted the SLR3 Pro Carbon pants with molded kidney protection and a segmented waist to ensure coverage in that sensitive area while allowing good range of motion. The upper tailbone area has been extended and includes Pure Carbon material for added protection, along with some added cushion padding. The wide 5” crotch stretch increases flexibility in the pants further.

Thigh Protection

The thigh padding is wide and curved for better net coverage (11” in width). The inner thigh section has been furnished with five-hole padding blockers to cover that area and aid in making those kinds of saves. To synergize with the extra flexibility in the hips, the SLR3 Pro Carbon pants have inner thigh stretch panels, and the double-layered padding over the inner thigh seams increases coverage.

Leg Extension

The SLR3 Pro Carbon goalie pants do not feature a leg extension option.

Knee Pad Attachment

The SLR3 Pro Carbon goalie pants do not feature a knee pad attachment; however, a garter belt can be purchased separately.

When deciding on a size, it’s recommended that you add 8-10 inches to your actual waist size to accommodate the space needed for the extra padding thickness and chest protector.
