Brian's OPTik 3 Senior Goalie Leg Pads 33+1 - USED

Brian's OPTik 3 Senior Goalie Leg Pads 33+1 - USED

Intro & New Features

The OPTik 3 leg pads are an ideal option for the butterfly goalie, with the MAX core variation used in this leg pad, and FLY /FLX core variations in custom. Specs include an Opti-Slide sliding edge, a reduced outer roll, Bri-Core, and a Pro 2 Knee Pad System.

External Material

The OPTik 3 still uses an Opti-Slide exterior material, which is well-known for its durability and sliding performance. Brian’s made some additional changes to the pad as well to further optimize performance and mobility. The outer roll size has been reduced to cut weight while increasing visibility when tracking the puck up close. The profile has also been made thinner and lighter for greater mobility.

Internal Construction

New to the OPTik 3 series and migrating over from the G-NETik series is Bri-core, which is a triaxle carbon-fibre composite reinforced thigh for greater rigidity in that area. The OPTik 3 pads come in three possible variations for cores: MAX, FLY, and FLX. MAX is used in this leg pad, and refers to a stiff core above the knee with a more flexible boot. This is a good middle ground between FLY and FLX, which have their own varying cores.

Pad Break

The OPTik pads have variations that cater to butterfly goalies with the MAX and FLY cores, and goalies that may take a more hybrid style will benefit most from the FLX core. There is a single internal break with the MAX and FLY options, and a double internal break with the FLX option. MAX is used in this leg pad.

Boot Angle & Toe Taper

Each variation uses a different toe taper:

MAX - 87”
FLY - 90”
FLX - 80”

The OPTik 3 is also equipped with an internal boot lift to help with pad rotation. At stock, the boot is a bit softer, with more variations available in custom.

Knee Cradle

The OPTik 3 continues to use the Pro 2 Knee Pad System from the G-NETik series, which is compatible with Pro 2 knee pads. Depending on your personal preferences, you can attach the knee pad to the pad or leave it independent. The knee cradle is padded and made of mesh for good protection and aeration.

Strapping

The pads include multiple strap systems to keep the gear nice and snug while allowing for optimal rotation and responsiveness. OPTik returns to the original Smart Strap system over the calf, which offers reliable responsiveness and connection with the gear. Over the Smart Strap system is an Outer to Inner strapping system that has been redesigned to stretch from the outer calf wrap toward the inner wrap. With the elastic slide plate connection, there is less pull, ensuring greater stability and control.

There is an additional optional upper calf strap attached to the pads to offer a solid anchor point that doesn’t restrict movement.
