Bauer Vapor FlyLite Senior Hockey Skates
Intro & New Features
Bauer has revived the Flylite line for 2025, and skates have been added for the first time ever to commemorate the occasion. The Flylite Hockey Skate is the newest addition to Bauer’s Vapor line with notable innovations such new Fusion tech, which has been incorporated in the quarter package, outsole, facing, and toe cap. The skate also features the Powerfly holder and the ability to choose between Bauer’s top-performance runners.
Skate Fit Profile
The Vapor Flylite skates come in Bauer’s Fits 1, 2, and 3, which is a concept that debuted in 2020. This was a great innovation, considering how the three lines, Vapor, Supreme, and Nexus, all historically had their own fits, despite performing differently. Now, those with narrower feet for example can enjoy the powerful stride enhancements that come with the Supreme line. Below is how the Bauer Fit System compares to previous years’ Bauer Skates:
- Fit 1 = Low Volume, Narrow width (closest aligned to the Vapor fit profile)
- Fit 2 = Medium Volume, Medium Width (closest aligned to the Supreme fit profile)
- Fit 3 = High Volume, Wide Width (closest aligned to the Nexus fit profile)
Boot Construction & Stiffness Profile
Bauer has created an all-new boot construction in the Fusion Curv Composite material and Fly tendon. This construction has increased abilities to store and transfer energy while flexing with the foot. Vapor line skates have their flex point in the lower portion of the skate, compared to the Supreme line, which flexes in the upper portion of the skate. A lower flex point is achieved in the Vapor line by maintaining a stiffer upper point and a softer, more reactive lower point. Paired with the Fusion Curv Composite, the Flylite skate helps players shift their weight quickly and provides a responsive skating experience.
Liner & Internal Padding
The Bauer Vapor Flylite skate comes stock with the Lock-Fit Pro liner. The lower portion of the liner features a grip material that keeps your foot from moving when taking strides, while the upper layer has been designed with a soft material that conforms to the foot without compromising performance. The skate also features Aerofoam Pro padding in the ankles for a comfortable fit in an elite package.
Lacing System
A key upgrade found in the Flylite skates compared to previous skates in the Vapor family is the Fusion Flex Facing. Bauer has built five flex notches to increase the forward flex in the skate, while improving side-to-side stability and energy transfer to the stride.
Tongue
Bauer has upgraded the Aerolite tongue to its third iteration, the Aerolite 3.0, which keeps the same lightweight foam core seen in recent high-end models with advancements made in the medial and lateral side comfort.
Steel/Runner/Profile/Blade Holder
Bauer has continued with their Choose Your Steel initiative, allowing you to pick between the newly-released Fly steel options. This skate comes with Fly-TI, but players can use either the FLY-Ti, or the FLY-X blades. The Bauer Vapor Flylite skate has the Powerfly holder, which has been designed to adapt and respond to every skating move by focusing on three areas: the front post, the back post, and the hyperbolic bridge. The stiff front post increases energy transfer in every stride, while the flexible back post delivers faster side-to-side motions and aids in quicker pivots and transitions. The hyperbolic bridge optimizes balance and power to help make you unstoppable on the ice.
Toe Cap
The toe cap found in the Flylite skate is the Fusion Connect. This toe cap has been designed with a rounded forefoot geometry, which enhances the fit and comfort of the skate while offering more consistent loading of energy.
Insoles
The stock insole of the Flylite skate is still Bauer’s Lock-Fit Pro, which combines comfort with good control in the sole. Lock-Fit is designed with additional grip along the sides, so your feet can stay locked in place while you skate. This design also ensures you don’t lose power on the stride.
Graphics
The graphics on the Flylite skate include a black look throughout the skate. On the side and back of the skate, Bauer included the Flylite logo, surrounded in White and silver accents to give the skate a similar look to the Hyperlite2. There are also hints of Blue and Purple to further enhance the look of this skate.
Sizes
The Bauer Vapor Flylite Senior Hockey Skates come in sizes 7-12 in Fit 1,2, and 3.
