Bauer Supreme Elite Junior Hockey Skates (2024)
Intro & New Features
New for 2024 is the Source Exclusive Supreme Elite skate from Bauer. This performance-level skate is perfect for developing skaters and those who play at a more recreational level but want more tech and better performance in their skates. Tech of note includes a reinforced 3D poly carb boot, 30oz pro stock felt tongue, and die-cut EVA foam footbed.
Skate Fit Profile
The Elite Junior skate comes in sizes 1-3.5 Full and Half sizes and D and EE widths. D size is more of a standard width, whereas EE fits a bit wider for larger feet. When deciding on a skate size, a good rule of thumb is to take the player’s shoe size and drop it by 1 or 1.5 sizes.
Boot Construction & Stiffness Profile
The reinforced 3D Poly Carb boot offers a solid blend of flexibility and support in the skate, which will greatly help younger players develop their skating without pushing them too far into the deep end. Although Elite skates are designed to be a bit more flexible to accommodate a wider range of skaters, the Supreme family of skates is classified as stiffer than the Vapor family.
Liner/Internal Padding
For the Elite, Bauer used a sublimated hydrophobic microfibre liner along the inside to wick away moisture and repel odour while you play. Including this kind of liner ensures that you stay comfortable in your skates all game long without the potential distraction of a wet boot. The internal padding is made of lightweight memory foam to further increase comfort when wearing the boot.
Tongue
The tongue is made of an updated 40oz pro stock felt material with a mesh metatarsal guard. This combination of comfort and protection is designed to form fit around and over the metatarsus area for extra coverage, and the thick felt coupled with the tough exterior help shield the front ankle area of your foot from harm while you play.
Insoles
The footbed is made of die-cut EVA foam, which is a common cushioning foam found in most athletic shoes. The choice to use this foam increases comfort in the boot by adding a more familiar feel to the sole.
Lacing System
The Elite uses a standard flex facing lace system along the eyelets with improved durability and reliability in the materials used.
Steel Runner, Holder & Blade Profile
To hold the blade in place, the Supreme Elite skate employs a TUUK Lightspeed Edge holder, which is the same as it was in the previous highest-end Supreme Ultrasonic skates. For steel, the Elite uses LS+ steel.
